Blue Thunder Sound Invests in d&b audiotechnik SL-Series, Supplied by 22live, Following Authorised Rental Supplier Appointment
23rd October 2026
Blue Thunder Sound, based in the South West, has made a significant investment in d&b audiotechnik’s SL-Series, supplied by 22live. The company has taken delivery of XSL, XSL-SUB and SL-SUB, powered by D40 and D90 amplifiers and with KSL systems also set to join its inventory shortly.
Jake Prowse, Managing Director of Blue Thunder Sound, commented:
“We have always been a d&b house at heart, and we still operate over 100 boxes of Q-Series systems that have served us exceptionally well over many years. We also hold M4 and M6 for monitor systems along with a range of E Series for point source. We wanted to raise the bar by investing in the latest d&b line array technology, giving us a system that will continue to serve us well for the next 10+ years and take our company to the next level.”
The SL-Series powered by the D40 and D90 amplifiers, and designed, controlled and monitored using d&b’s proprietary Arraycalc and R1 software and combined with ArrayProcessing puts the d&b product line in a league of its own as Prowse continues:
“The powerful and familiar software tools that accompany the d&b product range also played a key role in our purchasing decision. They enable us to deliver the best possible results for our clients, with the confidence and reassurance that come from working with a system we know and trust.”

The investment follows 22live’s appointment as a d&b audiotechnik Authorised Rental Supplier, marking a significant step forward in its relationship with the loudspeaker manufacturer.
Under the new agreement, 22live will hold dedicated sales stock of d&b audiotechnik products, enabling it to better support rental companies and venues across the UK. Alex Penn of 22live commented:
“We’re really excited to become an Authorised Rental Supplier and to build on our long-standing relationship with d&b. As both a rental and installation partner, we understand the needs of the rental market first-hand. Being able to supply d&b systems directly to the rental network means we can support customers in more ways, from investing in new equipment through to demonstrations, part-exchange and sub-hire, backed by dedicated sales stock.”
“The sale to Blue Thunder Sound is a fantastic way to get things moving under our expanded status with d&b. We look forward to working closely with the Blue Thunder team in the future and supporting one another on upcoming rental projects. We’re grateful to Jake and everyone at Blue Thunder for choosing to work with us on this investment.”
